It’s happened to all of us: wanting to grow our businesses but not knowing where to start or what to do. It can seem like you’re in a mad coma with so many tasks and options to choose from each day.

Instead of feeling pulled in ten directions, there are simple steps that will help you grow your business and feel confident and calm while doing so.

Decide what you want

What are your long-term business goals? These are essential, as they will guide you in the next steps.

Be as specific as you can when deciding your goals for growing your business. Some examples may be:

Increase your monthly income by $X

Registering two new clients

Increase your mailing list by 100

Why bother? It will be easier to reach your goals if you have clear and precise goals.

Make a plan

Take the goal that you have decided to achieve and start brainstorming ways to reach it. You might create or update a product to increase your income. To enroll new clients, you might contact former clients to ask for referrals. And to grow your list, you might host a webinar or teleseminar.

Bottom line: Pick one thing on your list and do it.

Get involved

Now, break down the item (your “one” thing) into smaller steps and set target dates. Let’s take an example: A teleseminar.

Choose the date, time, and topic.

If you don’t already have one, sign up for a teleseminar.

Place a sign-up area on your website.

You can prepare promotional material, such as blog posts (which you can use in your newsletter), social updates, and so on.

For people who sign up, create follow-up reminders in the auto-responder service.

Encourage friends and colleagues to promote the material you have already created and to provide it to them. Remind them to make minor edits so that it isn’t exactly the same as yours.

If you’d like, prepare a checklist and/or worksheet for your teleseminar participants. You can offer it as an added bonus.

You should also prepare a product or program to be offered at the end.

Get help

Reassess your plan and pinpoint the areas that need assistance. Yes, you will need assistance in certain areas. We all do.

Perhaps you need some help in the beginning to help you decide your goals or make a plan. You might consider hiring a coach to assist you in these steps.

Are you a stumbling block when it comes time to take action? Maybe you’re not sure which teleseminar program to use, or how to make a page that people sign up for. Virtual assistants are your best friend if this is the case. They will be able help you and in many cases do all of it for you.

The steps are easy: choose what you want, create a plan and seek help when needed. You won’t be stuck and unsure about your direction or what you should do to grow your company.

A clear plan will help you feel more confident and less stressed.

Your business will grow without you feeling lost.

Bonus Tip

It may be helpful to start another item once you have completed one item on your checklist. If you attended a teleseminar on growing your list, you can package the recording, worksheet, and checklist. You may also want to include a transcript. You’re done! Now you have a product that you can sell to increase income.
